
This past season on America’s Got Talent, we were treated to several weeks of performances by the Wright Kids, a bluegrass band consisting of thirteen year old Sage, ten year old Baruch, and seven year old Levi. These multi talented kids impressed the judges and Jerry with their hard work, determination and ears for music.
I recently got a chance to correspond with the Wright Kids, who told me all about the auditioning process, being in Vegas and what the future holds for them.
HOW DID THEY GET INVOLVED IN MUSIC?
Baruch says that their dad “got him started with a book and a couple of chords and then the rest just fell on him after he started lessons.” Sage adds that her parents grew up loving music and decided it would be nice for them to learn to play. They also attended festivals and conventions, which only made them love the music business more.
The Wright Kids began taking lessons when they were very young (Levi and Baruch were 5, Sage was 3); Levi and Baruch taking a liking to bass, guitar, banjo and voice, while Sage learned the violin, mandolin, piano, voice. Levi says seeing Baruch play bass is what inspired him to give it a try. They enjoy playing a variety of music, including pop, rock and bluegrass. The most important thing they had to say is how fun it is for them to play!
